Carer Ticket- To ensure view from the shard accessibility, important measures have been taken by the managerial authorities. All the disabled guests who will need assistance during their trip can purchase a ticket for themselves in advance. They can collect it from the reception on visiting the site. All the guests acquiring a carer ticket have to show documents like attendance allowance or carer’s allowance letter of award, incapacity benefit books, a blue or orange badge and others. The visually impaired guests can provide their registration card known as the BD8 or a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI) with the ISA international symbol of access printed on it.
Taxis & Car Parking- After reaching the London Bridge Street, just outside the rail station concourse, one would notice a taxi stand. Book your taxi and get dropped off at St. Thomas’ Street. The View from the Shard entrance is just a few yards away. The guests driving all up to the Shard would be disappointed as there are no parking or drop off facilities available nearby. Surely, they can look out for some privately owned car parks.
Arrival- After reaching the destination of the ‘View from the Shard’, ascend the 15 steps leading to the grand booking hall after passing through the revolving door or through an automatic door. You can also take the small lift located towards the left of the staircase. The lift ensures an inclusive space for all the wheelchair users. As you enter the Booking Hall, immerse in the beauty of the descently decorated ambience of the hall with its white tiled floor and overhead lighting. For the convenience of the guests, a hearing loop has been installed at each desk of the reception, a pen and pad of papers are available as well. Keep a notice that washrooms/ toilets are located on Level 1 and Level 68.
Viewing Galleries- As you take the lift to move up to the 72nd floor, from where visitors are allowed to take an eagle eye view of the city, stop by some of the beautiful galleries of the building. The ambience of the galleries has been enhanced with background music and sounds playing and the wooden floor complementing well with the blue sky. The Shard is evenly lit with overhead halogen bright lighting. Sit down on the foldable chairs available,and bring your coffee to the gallery to enjoy it best.
Shopping -There are a good range of souvenirs available to pick up from at the pop-up shop. You can find this shop located at Level 1. The store has ample space to welcome a wheelchair user. The shopping counters have a hearing loop system installed to enhance view from the shard accessibility for all sorts of guests.
